Levi's Special Day…Getting Dangerous

It’s getting to be a rough world at the coffee shop…

This is cool…

An inside look…

As you heard last week, the church recently received an answer to prayer, in the form of a gift for our kids, that enabled us to do some much needed upgrades to our CM Facilities. If you want a sneak peak before the big unveiling Easter weekend, take a look… DON’T FORGET TO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS ON EASTER!

tonymorganlive.com: Unleash 2008: Perry Noble…the other part

If you have time to read this list of thoughts regarding senior pastors, it’ll make you say a prayer for yours.  Tony Morgan is on staff at New Spring church, one of the nations most creative, bible teaching churches.

Unleash 2008: Perry Noble…the other part

After a couple of break out sessions and lunch, Perry came back for the final session of the day. He said he didn’t come to teach–he came to preach. Here’s what he preached…

Some of my favorites are…

  • "Moses. Led a church of one million. Led them through a relocation process. Greatest pastor ever."
  • Deal with your pride and insecurities.
  • "One of the most dangerous things God can give a leader or a church is success."
  • First thing Moses had to deal with was insecurity.
  • Use your staff.
  • "God gave Moses his staff." (Chuckle from the crowd.)
  • Staff members: "You’ve never felt the weight that your senior
pastor feels. You’ve never fought the spiritual battles. You have no
idea what it’s like to receive the criticism. Don’t tell me you know
    what he’s going through."

Consistency of the Word

I love the consistency of the scripture.  Consider these two passages from opposite ends of the Bible.  Today I read from Deuteronomy 32:7, "Remember the days of old, consider the years of all generations.  Ask your father, and he will inform you, your elders, and they will tell you."  Then consider the advice of the writer of Hebrews, "Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." (Hebrews 13:7)  It seems pretty clear that part of our Christian heritage is the foundation that has been laid for us generations ago.  So today I’m thinking about lessons from Bible patriarchs as well as some of the things my parents and grand parents have taught me about living life.  Here are some examples:

- Don’t be afraid to leave the comfort of home for the calling of heaven (Abram AKA Abraham)
- Don’t ever pass up a burning bush (Moses)
- Sometimes the pathway to influence is paved with disappointment (Joseph)
- Marry right, or it will cost you (Samson)
- God is not worried when our situation looks bleak, trust Him (Dad)
- Put others first and they will see God’s love through you (Mom)
- Prayer is the most sacred and powerful thing you possess (Grandma)
- Integrity and faithfulness are like a polished mirror that brightly reflects the heart of God (Grandpa)

Apple updates Leopard

This article talks about some cool updates Apple included in its latest release of Leopard.  I had the updated but was unaware of some of the new functionality.  If you’re running OS X, this is a must read.

Link: Macworld | Editors’ Notes | 10.5.2 update shows Apple listens to users.

Over the years, Apple periodically comes under fire for not listening to its customers—specifically, for deciding on particular features (or a lack thereof) and then sticking by its guns regardless of the reaction. Although some of this criticism is off-base, some of it is spot-on.

One Proud Dad

It’s my privilege to introduce my new favorite author.  Look for more works of art in the future.  Seriously, I’m so proud of my oldest son.  It took a lot of guts for him to put this together and submit it to a kids writing contest.  Imagine if we all did something we were scared to do every day…
