TAKING ONE MORE STEP…
I’m always reflective on Monday mornings. I’ve been coming to church, usually several times, almost every weekend for as long as I can remember. I still get excited about the potential of what God can do through the ministry of His Word! I also get excited when I have the opportunity to look across a crowd of people coming to church, and think about the amazing potential the lies inside the family of God to change the world.
This weekend I spoke about the challenge from Luke 9:23 to move from the CROWD into the CORE. Jesus calls each person that chooses to follow Him to "Get in the Game" and not allow routine to keep us sidelined. This morning I’m sitting at the kitchen table with a nice cup of Guatemala made in a French Press (that’s coffee), reading through the book of Luke pondering the many ways the I know that I can follow Jesus more closely. Here are some areas that I am constantly challenged to "Take a Step":
-Devotions!
-Serving at Home
-Leading my kids by example
-Finding ways to serve my community
-Trusting God with my finances
Even though you may look at this list and think that these are just the basics (and I agree), I know that if I’m not constantly evaluating the "basics" I can slip into routine and miss out on how God wants to challenge me to be more like Jesus. Be encouraged, and keep moving forward!
